Astro Turf finally arrives in Kingsmead’s MUGA
We are really happy that Kingsmead now has artificial grass in the Multi Use Games Area (named The Cage by the children). The school council has asked if this would be possible for 3 years and finally our wish has been granted!
We are really happy that Kingsmead now has artificial grass in the Multi Use Games Area (named the Cage by the children). The school council has asked if this would be possible for 3 years and finally our wish has been granted! Every term when we ask our classes what improvements they would like to see to the school this has been the number one request. Playing football in the cage is so much nicer now; it doesn’t hurt so much if you fall down, the ball bounces very nicely, goal keepers report they can be much braver in saving goals. The new Astro Turf is great for beginner cyclists to learn on too. Here are some comments we have gathered from our classes about the Astro Turf in the cage:
“I like the Astro Turf because when it is sunny we can lie down in the sun” Britney Yr 2
“We all like the Astro Turf because it feels like we’re a a football stadium” Kawesi Yr
“It’s nice and soft” Reqko Yr 2
“I like the dazzling new grass because it’s changed how the school looks” Anthony Yr 2
“It’s great for playing any grass sport” Ismail Yr 2
“It’s good as it’s much easier to score a goal now” Amir Yr 3
“It looks like a stadium” Izel Yr 3
“If you shoot hard, the ball bounces” Richley Yr 3
“It feels more advanced” Sean Yr 5
“You can do a backflip on it to celebrate when you feel happy” Kamron Yr 5
Children in various classes are saying now all we need is a net on the top to stop the ball going over the fence when it’s kicked high – but the school council say they understand if this would be too expensive.
