A group of fourteen pupils and three members of staff travelled to Paris for the weekend to practise their French and enjoy a taste of life in France. They had a fantastic trip, visitng the Eiffel Tower and the Tuilleries Gardens. Sarah, the year 4 teacher who led the group said "We were so proud when a lady on the Eurostar came and commented to us on how well behaved the children had been on the journey".
Here are some comments from the children on what impressed them most about the trip:
"Everything looked a bit unreal - like you were dreaming. I kept pinching myself to say I can't believe I'm in Paris!" - Rishanti (yr 5)
"The chocolate mousse with cream on top was so nice. We had a beautiful view in our hotel - it was like a map - it was like you were watching TV but you're in it!" - Sahila (yr 5)
"My favourite bit was walking up the Eiffel Tower - the view was amazing - the people looked like ants" - Zerda (yr 5)
"I had so much fun. It was a really nice experience" - Husnah (yr 6)
"Extremely amazing - it was different. The food tasted great - it was unique" - Chika (yr 6)
"The best thing was the technology in the hotel - the lights in our rooms were amazing" - J'nique (yr 6)
"My favourite things were going to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower and the shower that lit up in the hotel" - Sinai (yr 6)
"I wore a beret because I wanted to blend in" - Emeka (yr 4)
"It was so scary at the top of the Eiffel Tower. We were so high up. I also liked it when we were all screaming at the restaurant because of the giant bee that was buzzing around. We had so much fun" - Matlida (yr 6)
"There was a cute little french boy in the restaurant - we said 'Bonjour' to him and tried to understand him when he talked to us in French" - Aleyna (yr 5)
"We saw the Arc de Triumph and had a picnic in the gardens" - Camillo (yr 4)
"The food was delicious - especially the desserts. I liked the chocolate mousse best" - Bunmi (yr 6)
We will be having a 'Taste of Paris' event here at school later this term so the group can share their experiences with the wider community with samples of French food for all to enjoy. Look out for the date which will be posted on the website soon.
