Year 2 and Year 5 have been busy helping to plant lots of fruit trees and shrubs on Mabley Green, as part of the Mabley Green User Group's plans to create an edible forest garden for the local community. Kingsmead's school council also helped make signs for the different trees being planted and were involved with Stephanie, the forest gardener, in designing a section of the garden. Hackney Council sent in big diggers to dig out beds which have been filled with new, clean earth and to create low mounds to protect the young plants and trees. Next term Year 1 will also help with planting and the school will be involved with looking after the new plants.
