On Thursday last week the whole school packed into five coaches, in the pouring rain, to head off for a day of outdoor fun and activities at Chigwell Row in Essex! Once again Kingsmead’s luck with the weather held out, inspite of the worrying start to the day, and after half an hour of light rain when we first arrived, the clouds lifted and we had a wonderful (and dry) day. Our fantastic kitchen staff prepared a barbeque lunch for the whole school, helped by Terry and John who got all the charcoal and set the BBQs up. Every class had  a rotation of  different activities, with our older children also taking part in Climbing (yr 4), Archery (yr 5), a giant Zip Wire (yr 6).  We are very grateful  to Sanctuary Housing for their help towards the costs of this whole school trip.

Alicia Yr 4 – ‘I liked the crazy golf and grass sledging but climbing tower was my favourite. I climbed all the way to the top of the tower, my legs were shaking I was so scared but when I got down I felt fantastic that I’d done it.’  Kawesi Yr 6 – ‘I’m sad that this was my last trip to Chigwell Row as I’m in Year  6. I will really miss it; all the activities are fantastic and the food we have is great!’   Saisah Yr 6 – ‘When I first jumped off the tower to do the zip wire I was SO scared – but once I’d started it was so much fun. As soon as I’d finished I wanted to do it again! I felt very proud that I overcame my fears.’  Theo Yr 3 – ‘I loved go karting and grass sledging best. I went at lightning speed at my turn on the grass sledging!’

Here are two reports of the day, written by children in Year 2: 

First we did crazy golf. It was fun. Then we went in the giant white tent. I felt happy. Next we did giant games. I did the big Frisbee. I did volleyball. I did other stuff. Then we had lunch. It was a burger. After that we went on the bouncy castle and we bounced. We went on the trampoline. I did a front flip! Finally we went on the go-karts. Once we finished the red go-karts we picked different types of leaves. Me and my friends picked a big leaf. Then we had fruit. Then we went home - by Yusuf
