Wraparound care at Kingsmead consists of breakfast club, after school clubs and play centre.

Breakfast club

We run a well attended free daily breakfast club runs every morning during term time. Children can arrive any time between 8.10 to 8.30am and they will be offered a selection of healthy breakfast options: a variety of cereals, porridge oats, toast, bagels, beans on toast, pure fruit juice, milk. A great way to start the day!  We are very proud to be able to offer an entirely free breakfast to every member of the school community without prior registration.

Early Start Breakfast club

We also offer an early start breakfast club for all ages on Monday to Fridays from 7.45 - 8.10am for parents who need to get to work. Our Early Start breakfast club costs £1 per child. For families who are registered for Free School Meals the cost is only 50p per child. Please book in advance by letting the school office know either by phone call or by emailing admin@kingsmead.hackney.sch.uk

After School clubs

We offer a range of after school clubs for children Year 1 to Year 6 (with clubs for  Reception children offered in the Spring & Summer Term) run by staff members & specialist teachers. The clubs on offer include various sports, gymnastics, boxing basketball, table tennis & football,  arts & crafts, sewing, singing and hockey & ball games for younger children. These clubs help promote children's well-being and develop their social skills.

Sessions run for one hour from 3.30 – 4.30pm on Mondays to Thursdays and are booked for a whole term block at a cost of £20 per club per child. At the start of each term you will receive a letter outlining what clubs are available and asking for your preferences. Once your child has been allocated their clubs the school will let you know and you can then pay for them using Arbor.

Children who are registered for Free School Meals are eligible to apply for one weekly free club each term.

 

After School Play Centre

For parents/carers needing longer regular after-school childcare we have the following After School Play Centre options:

Early Years After School Play Centre based at Kingsmead School

For children in Nursery & Reception we have an Early Years After School Play Centre here at Kingsmead that operates on Mondays - Thursdays from 3.30 - 5.30pm, staffed by Kingsmead staff. We offer three options:

Option 1	3.30-4.30pm   Short Play Centre	£4
Option 2	4.30 - 5.30pm After club Play Centre*	£2
Option 3	3.30-5.30pm   Long Play Centre	£6

* Available in Spring & Summer Terms when Reception children can attend after school clubs, for days when your child is attending an after school club.

Yr 1 - 6 After School Play Centre based at Mandeville School

For children in Years 1 - 6 we have an arrangement with our partner school, Mandeville School, who are happy to accept applications for Kingsmead children to attend their play centre, which runs daily until 5.30pm for children from Year 1 to Year 6. 

During play centre, the children have a range of activities to choose from, including free play, sports outside, board games, arts and crafts, drama time, and homework time. Children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to have at the Mandeville play centre.

A member of Kingsmead School staff will escort any Kingsmead children registered with the Mandeville After School Play Centre, walking them over to Mandeville school at the end of the school day.

Kingsmead parents can select either Option 1 (short play centre) or Option 3 (long play centre) of the Mandeville Play Centre offer:

Free school meals discount* - only pay £4.50 per child per day for the long session 3.30-5.30pm

Booking & Payment

Booking and payment for early start breakfast club and Kingsmead and Mandeville play centres should be made via Arbor. Payment for Kingsmead after school clubs can be made via Arbor once the school has allocated which clubs your child has been given a place in.
